Clinical data compiled in a study of 500 patients with idiopathic
scoliosis from around the country, and some from overseas, demonstrates
how health maladies from which they suffer go beyond just their
problem with curvature of the spine and touch upon all five body
systems.
In the study patients were asked, aside from their scoliotic curvature
what, if any, additional health conditions had been bothering them.
Here are some of the more common maladies many shared.

(Source: Clinical data on 500 idiopathic
scoliosis patients was compiled from ten scoliosis care facilities
in a five-year study directed by Art Copes, a patent-holding Orthotist
and Ph.D. Patients were from around the country and some from overseas.)
These findings support the importance of pursuing research into the interaction
between scoliosis and all five body systems and of developing improved
multifaceted non-surgical treatments for idiopathic scoliosis that
takes all of this into account.
At the Scoliosis Care Foundation we want to fund scientific research
into the cause, detection and non-surgical correction of idiopathic
scoliosis that takes a person's complete body system into consideration.
We want to establish educational outreach programs to train more
healthcare professionals on methods of early detection and non-surgical
correction. Also, we want to help heighten public awareness about
early scoliosis detection and treatment options. But we can't achieve
these goals without your kind support.
